I asked the same question that was on the brief to some friends who were over to celebrate the recent birth of my daughter. It was the first time I can remember talking about an issue like this among mates. The conversation went into the early hours. We didn’t resolve anything and often the conversation became a little heated. I couldn’t replicate the conversation, or most of the language, but it made me realise that there are millions of different answers to this question. And it’d be hard to argue against a lot of them. Knowing that gave me the strength to speak from the heart. And at the end of the day, that’s exactly what I was asked to do.

I was born in Melbourne on Australia Day in 1976. I’ve been working as a writer in advertising since I was 19. From the photo, you can see that I’m kind of bald. But you can’t see that I’m kind of short. But I was sitting down in that photo so it doesn’t really count. I like spending time with family and friends and having a laugh, although my kids think I’m funnier than my wife does. So I guess you could say my sense of humour appeals to two year-olds. Saying that, we have a pug who gets way more laughs than me without any kind of effort at all.
